Pilot Nigel Lamb Wins Red Bull Air Race
Britain’s Nigel Lamb won the 2014 Red Bull Air Race World Championship recently with a dramatic victory under pressure at the season finale in Spielberg, Austria. With a fourth place finish in front of a sell-out crowd of 35,000 spectators, Austria’s Hannes Arch ended up second in the overall ranking. Although, the French pilot Nicolas Ivanoff won the race in the Austrian Alps on a sunny afternoon for his second victory this season, the 9 points that Lamb won with his fifth consecutive second place was enough to stave off a powerful challenge from the local hero. The British pilot secured first place with a grand total of 62 points from the eight-race world championship, which was the most exciting in the high-speed, low-altitude sport’s history.

Launches “Crazy Skull” timepiece
Fawaz Gruosi, founder and creative director of de Grisogono, hosted a private cocktail reception to unveil its newest creation, the “Crazy Skull” at its newly inaugurated showroom in Paris. The “Crazy Skull” was projected onto the facade of the building. Thrilling guests senses, from floral heart notes of red roses, to SALM (Something à la Mode) positive electro vibes, the “Crazy Skull” theme was honoured and everything around was meant to remind everyone present the irreverent and endearing de Grisogono, high jewellery timepiece. Up to 45ct of stones, from the skull to the tongue, some of them cut from raw stones to carve the nose and every single tooth. Its intricate bespoke mechanism has been entirely thought up and developed by the high-skilled de Grisogono master jewellers. Its mouth is set with an invisible setting of 7.70ct gleaming white baguette-cut diamonds. When its lower jaw is triggered, “Crazy Skull” sticks out its playful set tongue. The star-studded night was graced by the presence of many models, singers and actors like Karlie Kloss, Barbara Palvin, Gaspard Proust and others.

Opens flagship boutique in Istanbul
Ulysse Nardin and its exclusive Turkish partner Sark Saatçilik opened the first Ulysse Nardin flagship boutique in Istanbul at Nişantaşı. CEO of Ulysse Nardin Patrik Hoffmann, chairman of Sark Saatçilik, Mustafa Eliaçık and president of Turmepa association Tezcan Yaramancı honoured the boutique opening recently. For its first boutique opening in Turkey, Ulysse Nardin cooperated with “Turmepa” Association and designed a giant fish installation with plastic bottles picked up from the seashore by volunteers. The fish monument was exhibited during the reception and was donated to the association at the end of the night. With this social responsibility project organised by Ulysse Nardin and Turmepa cooperation, the aim was to draw attention to the protection of sea.

Cat’s Eye 10th Anniversary
Susan and David Rockefeller, together with Girard-Perregaux and auction house Christie’s, presented a special premiere screening of Food for Thought, Food for Life, the latest documentary by Susan Rockefeller, at Shanghai’s Rockbund Art Museum. The movie focuses on the development of healthier and sustainable food sources and the future of ecological and agricultural environments, underscoring the Rockefellers’ advocacy work. In line with the event and to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the brand’s iconic ladies’ collection, The Cat’s Eye, Girard- Perregaux has created a ‘Protect What Is Precious’ special edition timepiece, designed in collaboration with Susan Rockefeller. The timepiece features 73 tsavorites on the white hand-polished mother-of-pearl dial ranging from bright to pastel green.
