On the new in-house movement
We are putting together the Lange 1 collection with a new movement, the 50th in-house movement. The technical aspect of these changes would be a bigger balance wheel, instantaneously jumping date at midnight, and the second hand going back to zero whenever the power reserve is at zero.
On the new launches
Our biggest launch this year is the Zeitwerk Minute Repeater which combines a mechanical jumping numerals display with a decimal minute repeater for the first time. The acoustic sequence precisely reproduces the digitally displayed time whenever the striking mechanism is triggered with a pusher. The dial time is sounded with a low-pitched tone for each elapsed hour, a double tone for each elapsed 10-minute period, and a high-pitched tone for each elapsed minute. The time is displayed with an hour ring and two minute discs instead of hands.
On the brand’s performance
We have a very limited production. For us, it’s just a matter of lack of supply because of the production capabilities.
On the new production Manufacture
The idea of opening the new factory is to centralise many things done today, spread over five buildings. The idea is not to produce more but to streamline operations for better efficiency. We do not expect that we will suddenly do five times more of what we were doing before.
