Wrapped in gold and fused with diamonds the jewellery watches which blazed at the recently concluded event. Hiren Kumar Bose selects the exceptional ones
The bracelet similar to a woven-metal gas pipe that coil around the wrist it is formed by wrapping long bands of gold or steel around a steel core, interlocking to hide the core metal. It is combined for the first time this year with the case of the Lucea, Bulgari’s most modern ladies’ watch. The name Lucea comes from luce, Italian for “light,” and celebrates the essence of the sundial, with its light-reflecting mother-of-pearl and diamond dials. Lucea Tubogas watches come in a two-tone combination of 18-ct gold and steel. Launched in case sizes of 28mm and 33mm case the dial is set with 12 brilliant-cut diamond hour markers.
Earlier available in stainless steel this year the brand is dressing up the Record collection by adding 18-ct rose gold and two-tone steel and 18-ct rose gold versions. There are also many size options to choose from, making them suitable for both men and women. A variety of dials, including diamond options, and a choice of several straps complete the expanded selection. The traditional elegance of the Record is combined with a modern, elite movement that is COSC-certified as a chronometer. The automatic calibre features a silicon balance spring, a lightweight material that is corrosion-resistant, anti-magnetic and unaffected by normal temperature variations and atmospheric pressure. Bestowed with a high degree of added value, these certified “chronometers” now join the ranks of truly exceptional timepieces.
CHOPARD Happy Sport
Freely moving diamonds between two sapphire crystals over the dial, called Happy Sport completes twenty-five years and to celebrate the occasion the brand has fitted the watch with an in-house automatic movement, with functions that include hours, minutes and a graceful sweep seconds hand. The movement is visible through the sapphire crystal on the caseback, a rare visual treat on a ladies’ watch. The 30mm watch’s dial is made of rare textured mother-of-pearl that has naturally occurring wave-like motifs. There are four case options, including stainless steel, 18-ct gold or a combination of the two metals, with or without diamonds. The mother-of-pearl dials can be white or in a soft pastel shade of either pink or blue. Five bezel-set diamonds move freely between sapphire crystals over the dial.
HARRY WINSTON Emerald
The new Emerald watch with diamonds is combined with the soft touch of pink sapphire. The Art Deco lines of the eight-sided case, set with 53 brilliant-cut diamonds, are a tribute to the emerald-cut, the favourite diamond shape of Harry Winston, the founder. The emerald shape is repeated on the dial as an outline composed of 44 brilliant cut diamonds set into a background of white mother-of-pearl. The frame is accented by pink sapphires, set at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock and a larger, emerald-cut pink sapphire at the 12 o’clock position. The matching pink satin strap wraps around the wrist twice, reflecting a current trend in ladies’ watches.
de GRISOGONO Allegra 25
Having turned 25 this year the brand has introduced its new Allegra 25 Collection; the case forming an infinitely flowing circle with an endlessly woven gold ribbon. Powered by a quartz movement for improved comfort and accuracy, the watch comes in 41.7-mm-wide in either 18-ct pink gold or 18-ct white gold partially or fully set with white diamonds. Supremely self-confident in black and white, it exudes the contrast between black rhodium-plated white gold and black diamonds. The five pieces currently part of the Allegra 25 collection offers a range of variety in the number of diamonds and types of dials: from 113 white or black diamond-set cases to dials crafted in mother of pearl.
ARTYA Son of Earth Butterfly Set
The ArtyA Aion movement developed in-house, is used in the new Son of Earth Butterfly watch, which is now available with Top Wesselton VVSI diamonds set into the bezel, lugs and crown, within a special black case. The dials in this collection are made with real butterfly wings combined with gold leaf. Each dial is one-of-a-kind because each butterfly is one-of-a-kind. The 316L stainless steel or black PVD case has inserts made of ArtyOr, the company’s proprietary gold alloy. The cases sizes of the limited edition watches are 38 mm or 44 mm or 47 mm. Real butterfly wings and gold leaves have been used in the dials. Each case set with between 100 and 800 diamonds.
