Hiren Kumar Bose looks at the five new watches now available in stores
BREITLING Navitimer 1
The Navitimer 1 family has been extended to include eight new references, whose range of sizes, dial options, bracelets, and straps ensures that there is a perfect Navitimer 1 for even the most demanding of wrists. The Navitimer 1 B01 Chronograph 46 makes a bold style statement with its impressive 46 mm 18-ct red gold case is available in two configurations: one with an anthracite dial and a black alligator leather strap, and another with a silver dial and a brown leather strap. The Navitimer 1 B01 Chronograph 43 has been crafted in four compelling versions. The most elegant of these features an 18 k red gold case with a blue dial on a black alligator leather strap. Equally eye-catching is a stainless-steel and 18 k red gold model with a Stratos Gray dial, which is also presented on a black alligator leather strap. There are also two robust stainless-steel versions: one with a blue dial and a black alligator leather strap, and another with a silver dial and a classic Navitimer stainless-steel bracelet. Fans of smaller watches will be drawn to the Navitimer 1 Chronograph 41. It is available in steel and 18 k red gold with a red gold bi-directional rotating bezel, presented with a black dial and a black leather strap. There is also a striking stainless-steel version with a silver dial and brown leather strap. The watches are equipped with Breitling’s legendary bidirectional rotating bezel with a circular slide rule. The hour and minute hands are coated with Super-LumiNova®, which makes them easy to read in all lighting conditions. Both interpretations of the Navitimer 1 B01 Chronograph 46 have contrasting subdials (the “inverse panda look”), an indication of the extraordinary movement inside. They are powered by the Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01, an automatic movement that delivers a power reserve of more than 70 hours. These COSC-certified chronometers feature transparent sapphire case back.
FAVRE-LEUBA Raider Sea King
For sports lovers, this 41mm steel watch can be worn as a day or a dress skillfully reimagines the historic style DNA of the 281-year- old Favre-Leuba which presently owned by the Tata Group. Its stand-out design includes a fluted bezel, in addition to the signature tetradecagonal bezel. The multi-layered case resulting from these bezels, along with their interplay of polished and satin-brushed surfaces enables a creative contrast producing an emboldened style. The dynamic arc extends across the sides of the case from lug to lug. The 300m water resistant watch is held snuggly onto the wrist due to its comfortable lug drop, which is further enhanced by the matching dial. A solid, stainless steel bracelet features an end piece to attach to the stylish case. A soft antelope leather strap option is also available.
AUDEMARS PIGUET Carolina Bucci Limited Edition Royal Oak Frosted Gold
Developed in partnership with Italian jewellery designer Carolina Bucci this eponymous 37mm watch is shiny, has a silver-toned mirror, and is framed with the shimmering sparkle of a Frosted Gold case and bracelet. With this limited edition of 300 pieces, for the first time, the ‘diamond dust’ finish appears in yellow gold—the designer’s favourite version of this precious metal. There’s novelty in the packaging as well, with a mirrored box bearing a Frosted Gold AP insignia. This mirrored box is also designed by Carolina Bucci, who believes in pulling out luxury watch packaging from the back of the closet to put it on display.
Momento FENDI Mania
Inspired by the Fendi Mania logo created in collaboration with the Instagram artist @hey_reilly and re-appropriated by the Roman Maison, it features a dial decorated with the playful ‘FENDI/FILA’ logo in red and blue. The watch features a silver-white dial distinguished by the embossed red and blue logo representing an unexpected and edgy element in the overall design. To echo the colours of the logo, the timepiece is complemented with a blue calfskin leather strap with contrasting red edging for a colour-block effect. Proposed in a 40 mm stainless steel case with alternation of polished and satin-brushed finishes, the timepiece is designed for both women and men, integrating a chronograph function.
ALPINA Seastrong Diver
As befits a marine instrument, the model respects its heritage featuring an oversized 44mm case, a uni-directional ratcheting 60min diving bezel and luminous indexes. This diving bezel is featured in various colours such as navy, grey, burgundy, orange and blue with luminous indexes. The watches are powered by an AL-247 quartz calibre. Their dials make a bold connection with the bezel, coming in a deep oceanic blue of a light grey finish. They indicate the hours, minutes, seconds, GMT and a date window, visible at 3 o’clock. The watches are water-resistant to 300m. All enclosed by the engraved case and screw-in crown which offers added security while diving.
