Bollywood star steps into the ring with Indian boxing medallist
Indian boxing star Mary Kom visited the Omega Boutique at London’s Westfield Stratford Mall with Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan during the London Olympics. The boxer and the actor assumed a boxing pose for photographers but Bachchan made it clear that he wouldn’t want to step into the ring with Mary Kom, who won the bronze medal in the 51-kg weight class. Kom, who is a five-time World Boxing champion, has been fighting in the 46-kg and 48-kg weight slots for most of her boxing career, but she trained hard to gain weight to qualify for the 51-kg category, the lowest of the three weight classes established for female boxers at the London Olympics. Her bronze was the fourth medal won by India at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
