Hiren Kumar Bose picks up the four newly launched timepieces which will soon available in the watch boutiques
EDOX SkyDiver Military Limited Edition
Engineered for paratroopers, the watch is powered by an automatic three-hand Swiss movement calibre 80. The new 300m water-resistant watch SkyDive features a new scratch-resistant ceramic divers’ bezel and a parachute motif-engraved case back. Presented with a grey military nylon strap complementing perfectly the gradient dial. An additional steel bracelet is also included in a special leather pouch. The 2mm-thick sapphire crystal and the Superluminova X1 on hands and indexes will guarantee scratch resistance and readability in the most extreme conditions. Limited to 555 pieces.
FAVRE LEUBA Raider Harpoon
With a single minute hand and the co-rotating hour ring, the Raider Harpoon features a sapphire crystal with dual sided anti-reflection coating, thus ensuring ease of time reading during a dive or also on dry land. The watch with a single hand ensures you only must look at one point to read the precise time as this indicates both the minutes and hours. This has a 20-minute marked dive scale on it, which is visible on the anodized aluminium insert. An essential tool for keeping track of dive times, making it an apt dive watch. Furthermore, Super-Lumi Nova is applied to the hour ring, the minute hand and the central function control disc. Therefore, you can view the functioning watch face clearly in the dark.
MB&F LM Thunderdome
Legacy Machine Thunderdome, jointly signed by Eric Coudray and Kari Voutilainen is a mechanism that goes beyond conventional tourbillons: the proprietary new MB&F ‘TriAx’ is the fastest 3-axis regulator to-date, with the outermost cage turning in 20 seconds, the intermediate one in 12 seconds, and the innermost in 8 seconds. The spectacular construction – which includes an unprecedented combination of Potter escapement, hemispherical balance wheel and cylindrical hairspring – rises above the guilloché dial plate, crafted by hand in Kari Voutilainen’s workshops. Flip the watch over and you’ll discover the remaining 413 components that make up the LM Thunderdome movement. The triple-axis system may have been conceived by Eric Coudray, but its aesthetics are fully Kari Voutilainen.
The watch is launched in two limited editions:33 pieces in platinum 950, with a light-blue guilloché dial plate; and 10 pieces in tantalum.
